HAUSU coming to UK DVD in 2010

This weird Japanese film, directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi in 1977, will be released by Masters of Cinema on January 25, 2010.

An unforgettable mixture of bubblegum teen melodrama and grisly phantasmagoria, Obayashi’s deranged fairy tale House is one of Japanese cinema’s wildest supernatural ventures and a truly startling debut feature.

Distressed by her widowed father’s plans to remarry, Angel sets off with six of her schoolgirl friends in tow for a summer getaway in her aunt’s isolated mansion. But all is not well – in this house of dormant secrets, long-held emotional traumas have terrifyingly physical embodiments and the girls will have to use all their individual talents if any are to survive.

A rollercoaster ride without brakes, House is by turns sinister, hilarious and curiously touching, with ceaseless cinematic invention and a satirical, full-blooded approach to the horror genre. A gigantic smash upon its original release in Japan, the Masters of Cinema Series is proud to present its UK premiere on DVD.

GAMBIT coming to DVD in UK

This 1966 heist film directed by Ronald Neame will be released by UK company Second Sight on November 30

What they do a crime !

Co-starring HERBERT LOM,
Screenplay by JACK DAVIES

One of the classic comic-heist movies of the 60’s, Ronald Neame’s Gambit stars Michael Caine as Harry Dean, the cockney con-man with the perfect plan to steal a priceless statue. He just needs the right accomplice to play the part of his wife and Shirley MacLaine’s Eurasian showgirl has just the face he’s looking for. Events don’t unfold quite as planned, but then little is what it seems in a plot that keeps the audience guessing as it twists and turns to the very end.

Having just played the role of Alfie to great acclaim, Michael Caine plays the loveable rogue with effortless cool once more.

January 26 R1 titles artwork and synopses

In the age of Aquarius, the Gemini twins share everything: murder!! Jacki (TO SIR WITH LOVE's Judy Geeson) and Julian (SATYRICON's Martin Potter) are 20-year-old twins with an unusually close relationship. Their bizarre fantasy world isshattered by the arrival of Clive, a London small-time criminal with a massive gambling debt. As the twins become exposed to the seamy underbelly of the swinging '60s London nightlife, their relationship becomes strained and twisted.

Four beautiful young women surrender to the fiendishly charm of Lucifer himself. But their nights of unholy pleasure have a price: they can't have sex with other men, for the Lord of Darkness is a very jealous lover indeed. The otherworldly fruits of these bestial couplings go by the names of Almarisa and Daria. While the former starts to loathe herself as soon as she realizes who her father really is, the latter perversely learns how to enjoy her devilish skills to wreak havoc in the human world. To put an end to her hellish endeavours, a very unlikely exorcist is enlisted.

Impulse Pictures presents the sixth volume of the best-selling SCHOOLGIRL REPORT erotic film series. After two students are caught doing "extra-curricular" activities in an abandoned school classroom, they plead their case to the student council. To the headmaster's surprise, the teen lovers expose what's REALLY going on in their school behind closed doors. SCHOOLGIRL REPORT 6: WHAT PARENTS WOULD GLADLY HUSH UP is a raunchy, sex-filled slice of German exploitation filmmaking.

How do Catholics enjoy sex when the always glowing threat of sin is bestowed upon them by God's rightful sword? Well, for starters you could seek out the advice of your local priest and try to work out issues that are obviously at odds like pleasure and guilt. A forgotten but very accurate portrait of mid-seventies Italy, the film captures some of the most sensitive problems that had to be faced by Catholic women like prenuptial intercourse, open weddings and homosexuality.

The boss of an luxury London fur company falls for a mobster's moll. Scantily clad women in closets, mistaken identities, accusations and cover-ups run rampant as this simple transaction turns hilariously wrong! Starring the UK's favorite comedic talent Julie Ege, Leslie Philips and Barbara Windsor, Not Now Darling is a furiously funny British comedy classic filled with innuendo and fast-paced, quick-witted dialogue.

A new teacher (the breath-takingly hot Michela Miti) sets the hormones of the whole school on fire! She's lovely, beautiful, smart, and hotter than hell. Who cares about history, geography and math when every student in the room has their eyes firmly fixed on her miniskirt and her pants? Led by the laziest and most unlikely student of them all - the mighty cultural trash icon Alvaro Vitali, worshipped by cult director Eli Roth - the students set out to conquer the school's most cherished forbidden fruit.

Gerald and Jacqueline are a bored married couple in middle-class suburbia looking for some extra-marital action. While Gerald gets his thrills from a brand new E-type Jaguar, his wife takes the car salesman for a spin! Reminiscent of the Carry On series, this is a hilariously cheeky British comedy, never before released in the US, starring Julie Walters and Ian Charleson.

GHOST STORY artwork and release date

This previously mentioned release has finally got some artwork and a definite date - October 26. Coming from UK company Nucleus Films. Here are the details:

Revered, misunderstood and oft-discussed, Stephen Weeks' rarely seen 1974 dreamlike chiller is the absolute definition of a cult British Horror film. Set in 1930s England it tells of three former public schoolmates, Larry Dann (The Bill), Murray Melvin (The Devils) and the enigmatic Vivian Mackerrell (the inspiration for Bruce Robinson' s creation 'Withnail', seen here in his only major screen role), who reunite in a country mansion haunted by the spirit of insane former resident Marianne Faithfull (Girl on a Motorcycle). The haunting transports them to a surreal world of demonic dolls, sadistic doctors, incest and murder. Hammer fans will see Barbara Shelley (Dracula Prince Of Darkness) and Leigh Lawson (Hammer House Of Horror), among the cast, 'cult TV' enthusiasts will recognise Anthony Bate (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Beasts), and sitcom lovers will enjoy a cameo from Penelope Keith (The Good Life, To The Manor Born).
This combination of 1970s Britsploitation and 1930s quaintness, realised perfectly by Weeks and soundtracked by Pink Floyd collaborator Ron Geesin, have made Ghost Story legendary. Now, for the first time on DVD Nucleus Films proudly presents this pristine 2-disc collector's edition including Ghost Stories, an in-depth featurette about the curious tale about the making of the film, an audio commentary, a trailer and a selection of Weeks' fascinating early shorts and commercials including the previously unseen Tigon film 1917!
